Career advice -- so unhappy but school will get me so in debt!?

dilemma. i work as a secretary and make about 50K. i hate it and want to cry nearly everyday. i was thinking that maybe i should go back to school for art education. trouble is, a BA and a masters would get me really in student loan debt -- AND i will be making less that i am as a secretary. I am so sad and don't know what to do! advice please? Career advice -- so unhappy but school will get me so in debt!?
Why not take this one step at a time?

If you do not have an undergraduate degree, get one at night school. That way you don't run up any debts.

Having done that, take a hard look at what Masters programmes that are attractive to you would get you a better job and do the maths before you enroll. Then you will know whether taking a Masters as well makes sense. It does not always.Career advice -- so unhappy but school will get me so in debt!?
See if your current employer offer tuition reimbursement. If they do you can go back to school on their dime. Once they are done paying for your education, you can go find another job that you will enjoy more than your current one.

If your current employer doesn't offer any tuition reimbursement, then you'll have a tough decision to make. You can either quit your job and apply for financial aid to pay for your education. Or, you can stick it out with your current employer and make the best of a bad situation and maybe take some night classes on your own dime.

As an aside: Whatever reason(s) it is you're unhappy with your current employer, you should try to find a way to make it better. Talk to your boss to see if there's something else you could within the organization that will give you more job satisfaction. You're getting paid pretty generously for a secretary, I wouldn't just throw that away. It generally boils down to what will make you happier and what career you feel will be more gratifying.

Hope this helps or at least leads you in the right direction.
Hi ! With that kind of money coming in on a regular basis you must be living fairly comfortably. My advice would be to stick with it for a while and find some form of spare time home study at very low cost. the distraction of taking the course will make the job you have less tedious. Think it over.

wow, thats weird. I have a BA in art history and im applying for jobs as an assistant, cause i would need a MA or phd to do anything with art history. why do you hate it so much? Im tired of going to school and want to make some money already.
keep your job, some people just aren't ment to be happy in life. just deal with it and live out the remainder of your avarage existance untill you die or are too old to work.
