I've been on birth control since I was 16 until I was 20. It's been a year since I've been off of them and Ive been trying for about 8 months now. I have regular periods and my ovulation days are perfectly on time. Could the reason that I'm not getting pregnant be that I was on Birth control for so long and it's hasn't quite yet left my system? Just wondering. Thanks for your helpI'm trying to get pregnant and I need a little advice!!!!! Please give me your opinions!?
HI,
I was on the pill for 6 years. My doctor told me once you start to have regular periods and ovulating on a regular basis then its pretty much out your system.
Remember it can take perfectly healthy couples up to 18 months to conceive. My doctor advised me that sex every other day increased your chances of conceiving, also a good diet and lifestyle are essential.
When you and your partner have your moment try putting a couple of cushions under your hips, give gravity a hand ;) remember to lie there for at least 15 minutes.
It may be worth visiting your GP who may do some simple blood tests and check your partners sperm level to make sure that all is ok.
Best of luckI'm trying to get pregnant and I need a little advice!!!!! Please give me your opinions!?
I was not on BC that long but I have been off for a long time also and have not gotten pregnant yet either.. it sucks huh. Everyone is different how their body will react once getting off the pill. My ob said since everybody's cycle is not the same they obviously do not ovulate at the same time and its based off of the length of your cycle so have sex atleast evey other day from the 10th-20th day your period started to hit your ovulation day sometime in the middle of that. She put me on prenatals also the help build up folic acid. Also remember that sperm can stay inside you for up to 3 days but to help as much stay in for as long as possible, once he finishes inside you, put like a pillow or something to keep your pelvis a little elevated for like 15 min. Good luck to you!
they say some birth controls when on for an added period of time can make it harder to get pregnant but if your ovulating normally then im not sure what the case could be. Try having sex 1-2 days before ovulation then again during ovulation. Also too much sex can lower his sperm count making it harder to get pregnant. Try having sex every other day or every three days!! Or better yet try not to have sex until you are close to ovulation that month! I know it may be hard but its worth a shot!
I was on the pill from age 18-28. My doctor told me not to try getting pregnant for the first three months after stopping the pill since my body isn't back to it's normal hormonal state. Eight months is more than enough time for your body to get back to normal. It sounds like there might be another reason for not getting pregnant. You should visit your doctor to be referred to a fertility specialist. They'll do blood work on you and your partner to screen you two for any obvious problems.
Good luck!
Have lots of sex, all the time, all day and all night. Forget what all the other idiots suggested. They are wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes, I was told that it takes just as long as your were on the pill, for it to get out off our system.
