I want to get fit and lose weight...Do you have any advice ?

I'm 5'5 195lbs. I'd like to maybe lose 30-40lbs with changing the way I eat and exercise. I have a gym membership but I don't exactly know how to start on my own. As far as the best workout routine for the am or night. Do I eat before or after i workout? How many days a week? I'm really new to this so any advice is welcome....ThanksI want to get fit and lose weight...Do you have any advice ?

go on a diet. also, stretch and run daily. if you continue eating healthy, and running, you should get fit fairly fast. if you want to speed it up a bit, play the wii on its main system game (wii sports) tennis and boxing. if you do this, you'll be nice and fit fairly fast
