I have a boyfriend and he is sick like mentally; not in a bad way but he has mood swings and it gets pretty bad. I insisted he see a doctor or therapist and get tested and see what's wrong; but he sees no problem and says its no big deal; everyone around him is effected and worried. And advice on what to say to maybe get him to go without pushing him to hard?Does anyone have advice on the ';right'; thing to say when a loved one needs help but won't get it? ?
Guys don't like being told they have a problem
well no1 does
my friend wudnt even listen to me about his addiction problem
it takes a bad bad experience (sometimes near death) to jolt them.
go out to eat or something, show him you care by 'doing' things for him for a day, like hang out with him, spend time
then tell him you love him and you are concerned and if he would just give it a try, if not for himself, for you...because you are worried and ask him if he would like to see you so uncomfortable. Don't tell him how he feels...or what he ';should do';... tell him how him not seeing a doc makes you concerned and to give it a try just once, nobody has to know but the two of you and u'll go with him if he wants.
guys dont like to admit something like that
and needing ';help'; is like a deface to their man hood.
Good luck. It's nice that you still care for him after everything. You're a great person.Does anyone have advice on the ';right'; thing to say when a loved one needs help but won't get it? ?
I'm not sure how old you are but I'm assuming that you are in high school. If so, I think you should go see your counselor and advise them of your boyfriends problem and ask them if they can help him. They may be able to talk to him and see if it is just a phase or if he does need some kind of medical help.
