Any advice on getting a 3 yr old w/a canker sore on tongue to eat/drink?

My 3 yr old granddaughter has a canker sore on her tongue. Also has slight tonsilitis. The Dr gave her Nyastatin for canker sore and Amoxil for tonsilitis but she is still complaining of pain. Giving Motrin also. She wont eat/drink very much at all saying it hurts. Realize she needs nourishment. Am very worried. Any advice?Any advice on getting a 3 yr old w/a canker sore on tongue to eat/drink?
Hi...don't worry, you did the right thing, she has seen the doctor, has her meds! Getting medical advice here isn't such a good thing, but...getting idea here is great!! For now give her Popsicles or ice cream. I know its not healthy but will help with the pain in her throat. She can eat jello or mashed potato's, applesauce..etc If she doesn't eat for a couple of days she will be okay, just make sure she is very well hydrated!! Its so important. The sugar in the pops or ice cream will give her a little energy. Also, this is important, get her to try and gargle with warm water and lots of salt in it...it will help get rid of the canker sore, and help with the throat..l know she is only 3 and it might be hard to gargle but if you show her how she might get it. My niece was doing it at 2 1/2.

Good luck to you and your granddaughter!! She is luck to have you, your a good Nana for caring so much :))Any advice on getting a 3 yr old w/a canker sore on tongue to eat/drink?
Buy a 100cc syringe and feed her with it very slowly. It is what we do to patients who do not eat. If the child still does not drink or eat take her to hospital to fix her a drip. Remember children can get dehydrated quite easily.
By gargling your mouth with salt water,

the mouth ulcers will heal quickly.

I found the homeremedies at

Anbesol from drug store will sooth the soreness inside the mouth. Very effective.
