Can you give me an advice that will help me get a server (or host) job?

should i call multiple restaurants and try to apply on them, or just inquire one at a time?

and are there any other advice you can give me would be much appreciated =D thnxCan you give me an advice that will help me get a server (or host) job?
It really depends where you are located, for example suburbia vs a city. If your in a city, I would just go from restaurant to restaurant and you could probably hit up about 10 -15 in one afternoon. Make sure you go on off hours ( mornings 9-11 and afternoons from 2 -4:30/5 )since they will be too busy to do an interview during meal times.

Go in and ask if they are hiring and please if they say no - don't take that answer as a definate no- tell whomever that you would like to leave your name and number just in case. Remember to write down the days and hours you are available also. If they ask you to fill out an application it will normally be generic, asking for general information and days/hours you are available. Oh and it would be a good idea to have an idea who you can put down as a reference.

If you get some sort of interview, remember this is your first impression to them and it will matter! Act yourself, make eye contact, be confident, listen and smile! Listening is very important and answer the question short and to the point - don't ramble on. Keep in mind that if they hire you, you will be representing their restaurant, you are the contact point. At the end just make sure you thank them for their time and get their name so you can ask for them if you need to call.

For suburbia, the only thing I would do differently is call some restaurants before going on a hunt. This way you can weed out the ones who are definetly Not hiring at that time.

I hope I helped you and Good Luck :)Can you give me an advice that will help me get a server (or host) job?
I would go to more then one and fill out an application. When you go make sure you smile and use eye contact and have an upbeat personality to all employees you speak with while your there. If they do say that they have current openings call after a week has gone by from the time you filled out your resume just to check the status to show you are interested. You can also check craigs list for places that are hiring. In the post's they usually say if they would rather have you call before you come in or tell you the best time to go in to fill out an app. When you do go make sure it is not during peek lunch or dinner times so that this way you have more of a chance of speaking with a manager the same day you fill out a app. Personality is key though dress to impress. Good luck.
Go to the restaurants, I hate when people call. Look nice, fill out the application and even if there not hiring, if you leave a good impression they could call you back when there is an opening. Go to as many as you can in one day and you are almost guaranteed a job.

Since I was 15 I have worked retail or restaurant jobs. every time someone would call to see if we were hiring we said no. its not bad if you do call, but you are more likely to land a job if the employer sees you face to face.
